Xu, Prithvijit, Hoang and Zhaowen successfully defended their Ph.D. theses and graduated! Congratulations!!!

Drs. Xu Zhang, Prithvijit Mukherjee, Hoang Nguyen and Zhaowen Lin graduated on June 11th 2022 after successfully defending their theses. Xu, Prith, Hoang and Zhaowen’s work focused on In situ fabrication and characterization of 2D materials, microfluidic platforms for localized electroporation, fracture properties of quasi-brittle materials and nanomaterials, respectively.

Siyan Dong (now Dr. Siyan Dong) succesfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on May 15th. His work focused on nanodevice fabrication using 2D materials. 

02/05/2020 – AWARDS

Prof. Espinosa elected to the National Academy of Engineering!

Congratulations to Prof. Espinosa for being elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE),  one of the highest professional distinctions awarded to an engineer. Prof. Espinosa was cited “for contributions bridging nanoscale experimentation and atomistic simulations.” As a new member, he will be joining a distinguished comunity of more than 2,000 peer-elected members….

10/14/2019 – CONFERENCE

Students from the Micro and Nanomechanics Group presented their work at the SES Conference in Washington University of St. Louis!

Hoang, Siyan, Prithvijit, Nibir, Xu, Zhaowen, Cesar and Nicolas attended the 2019 SES Conference in St. Louis and presented their work. They enjoyed the city after each day of conference.

10/14/2019 – AWARDS

Prof. Espinosa awarded the prestigious Prager Medal by the Society of Engineering Science (SES)!

Congratulations to Prof. Espinosa for being selected recipient of the William Prager Medal from the Society of Engineering Science. The award was granted for outstanding contributions in experimental solid mechanics, including nano- and micromechanical testing and model development. He received the award during the SES Conference held in October in St. Louis, MO.

Congratulations to Nicolas for being selected recipient of the Roberto Rocca Education Program Doctoral Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to exceptional university graduates from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Romania, and funds doctoral studies in specific fields of study that include Materials Science, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering.
